The Junius team has demonstrated the ability to execute complex, multi-disciplined asset strategies, including distressed asset acquisitions and workouts in building and operating investment and asset management platforms.
John Fraser, Managing Partner, is Chief Investment Officer and head of the Investment Committee of Junius Real Estate Partners. He has over 27 years of real estate investment experience. John is responsible for the management and direction of the Junius platform and its investment activities. John joined Junius in January 2011 and established the Junius business plan, strategy, structure and team. Prior to founding Junius in 2011, John spent 15 years with Investcorp International Inc., where he was Co-Head of Real Estate. In this prior capacity, John was responsible for all aspects of management and execution associated with Investcorp’s investment in U.S. real estate equity and debt. Prior to Investcorp, John held positions at The O’Connor Group, Eastdil Realty and Aston Development Corporation, where he was responsible for direct investment, asset management and property redevelopment, respectively. John received a B.A. from Middlebury College, after which he served as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Junius Investment Team
Michael Lynch, Executive Director, is an Investment Officer of Junius Real Estate Partners and serves on Junius' Investment Committee. He has over 12 years of experience and is responsible for sourcing, executing and managing investment opportunities on behalf of the strategy. Prior to joining Junius in 2011, Michael was a Director within the real estate principal investments and lending group at Marathon Asset Management, LP, a global alternative asset manager with approximately $10 billion in assets under management during his tenure at the firm. At Marathon, Michael led and assisted in the origination, due diligence, transaction execution and asset management of real estate assets totaling approximately $3.4 billion in enterprise value. Prior to his employment at Marathon, Michael began his career as an Analyst in J.P. Morgan’s Real Estate and Lodging Investment Banking Group, where he was involved in M&A assignments totaling $2.8 billion in completed transaction value. Michael holds a B.S. in economics and a B.A. in psychology from Duke University and also studied at the London School of Economics.
Alexander Mitzner, Executive Director, is an Investment Officer of Junius Real Estate Partners and serves on Junius' Investment Committee. He has over 14 years of experience and is responsible for sourcing, executing and managing investment opportunities on behalf of the strategy. Prior to joining Junius in 2011, Alex was a Vice President at Clarion Partners in New York, where he worked in acquisitions and asset management on behalf of the firm’s opportunistic real estate fund series. During his six-year tenure, Alex was involved in the acquisition of nearly $1.0 billion and the management of over $1.3 billion of real estate in the U.S. across all asset types. Prior to Clarion, Alex worked at CB Richard Ellis, Inc. for three years as a member of a leasing team focused on landlord representation for office assets in downtown Washington, D.C. and the surrounding metro area. He holds a B.S.B.A. in finance from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
John Cooper, Vice President, is a member of the Junius Real Estate Partners investment team. John is responsible for underwriting, executing and managing investment opportunities on behalf of the strategy. Prior to joining Junius in 2011, John worked as an Analyst in the Urban Investment Group of Goldman Sachs, where he was involved in the investment of over $200 million of proprietary capital in urban real estate across the United States, and in Goldman’s real estate investment banking group where he helped advise a variety of publicly traded REITs and real estate operating companies. He holds a B.A. in economics from Hamilton College.
Jeffrey Hadzima, Vice President, is a member of the Junius Real Estate Partners investment team. Jeffrey is responsible for underwriting, executing and managing investment opportunities on behalf of the strategy. Prior to joining Junius in 2011, Jeffrey was a Senior Analyst within the Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in New York, where he focused on real estate restructurings and mergers and acquisitions. While with that firm, Jeffrey also spent two years as an analyst within the M&A Group. Jeffrey holds a B.A. in history from Georgetown University, with a concentration in Europe and the Middle East, and a minor in economics.
Kevin Straub, Vice President, is Director of Development and Construction for Junius Real Estate Partners with over 18 years of experience. He is responsible for construction/development analysis and implementation in all phases of Junius’ investments from due diligence through completion. Prior to joining Junius in 2013, Kevin was the Vice President of Construction and Project Director at Zeckendorf Development where he led the construction of 15 Central Park West and 18 Gramercy Park in New York. Prior to this, Kevin worked at ValCon Construction Advisors as a Senior Project Manager where he managed close to $1 billion in construction fund allocations and performed due-diligence property inspections for many top commercial lenders and investors across the country. Kevin holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University.
Mike Tompkins, Associate, is a member of the Junius Real Estate Partners investment team. Mike is responsible for underwriting, executing and managing investment opportunities on behalf of the strategy. Prior to joining Junius in 2016, Mike was an Associate at Greenfield Partners, where he focused on real estate acquisitions and asset management for the firm’s opportunity funds. Prior to Greenfield Partners, Mike spent two years as Analyst at LaSalle Investment Management, where he focused on the asset management of core properties for the firm’s separate account clients. He holds a B.A. in urban studies from The University of Pennsylvania and a M.S. in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University.
